yesterday with the help of vice president biden while he was out on the campaign trail. he was describing how middle class americans will be hurt under mitt romney. and then he sort of put -- framed their plight over the last four years this way. >> this is deadly earnest. how they can justify, how they can justify raising taxes on the middle class has been buried the last four years. how in lord's name can they justify raising taxes with these tax cuts? >> vice president biden just today said that the middle class over the last four years has been, quote, buried. we agree. that means we need to stop digging by electing mitt romney the next president of the united states. of course the middle class has been buried. they're being buried by regulations. they're being buried by taxes. they're being buried by borrowing. they're being buried by the obama administration's economic failures. >> reporter: romney campaign put together a conference call to draw attention, more focus to the comments by the vice president. the obama campaign pushed back saying this was just another act of desperation

the campaign trail of the weekend, they are leaving it to the running mates including joe biden in the fort myers, florida with what he thinks the campaign is all about. >> this country is facing the starkest choice for president that we have faced at least in my memory. now that governor mitt romney has made it official and he has picked paul ryan, they are both decent man. i do not need your boos. i need your help. i want to be straight with the. gore or joe biden have charitable contributions of $350 per year. i would not think you could argue that mitt romney has gotten p too muchuffy press. i think his interview on "six"the minutes was pretty good. they ask what your idea of leadership was in that as a nice generic question. i need spirit -- i think there needs to be substantive questions as well. host: i want to make sure that the folks see this a -- in "the washington post" last wemple reported thisric -- guest: there is a danger in a candidate talking about the media bias. the media of will turn around and say you are losing. this is a lot of what we have seen in the last couple of weeks. there was an associated press report that said romney is struggling to exert his influence in the poll. you don't want to get across the idea of losing but this is what happens. the media runs with a poll they are taking and they treat the race like it is over. we are in september. that's what i don't like. people should let this election process conclude before they say is so host: over. next up is silver spring, maryland, go ahead.

the that katmai's -- my surprising thing was about vice-president biden. he will talk about anything for a long time because he likes to do that. and even as vice president, i am surprised at how open he is. when you do encounter him, he will still stop and talk and actually enter questions. it is refreshing because it is so rare. >> we all talk to people every day and when you hear an authentic cancer, you know that is not a talking point. i don't know what to do with that because you get used to them saying the same things over and over. our job is to get through it. >> what about the first lady? i will open up to the floor after this. are they exactly the way they come across on tv and in the press? >> i have so much admiration for all first ladies, without exception. because they are judged so harshly, they can do nothing right. i am a little upset with michele today because i have not been able to eat. >> does she do that at every lunch and class >> i am trying to be more nutritious, kids are boycotting because they say they want macaroni and cheese. i don't know mrs. obama well left and s
